Office Hours

Our office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding holidays. For winter weather closures, please call our office at (865) 524-7471.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment only. Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins. If you feel you should be seen urgently, please call our office at (865) 524-7471.

Your time is important to us, and we strive to see you promptly. To help us and other patients, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time, so that we can process your billing information and initiate your medical chart. Please be aware that late arrivals may be rescheduled. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call to cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

We ask that you please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or other heavy scented sprays as many of our patients have sensitive respiratory conditions.

Referrals

As a specialty practice, some insurance companies require patients to have a referral in order for us to treat them. We ask that you please understand your insurance’s referral policy, and obtain a referral from your primary care doctor when necessary.

Telephone Calls

For medical emergencies dial 911. If you have a sudden or severe medical problem, please report to your nearest emergency room; please be sure to mention that we are your pulmonologists. If you need to speak with one of our physicians urgently about a preexisting condition, our doctors may be reached by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling (865) 524-7471.

Telephone calls regarding medical maintenance, including medical problems or medications, are handled by your physician’s medical assistant. In many cases you will be prompted to leave a voice mail message, which should include your name, phone number, and any necessary details regarding your problem. All calls received before 3 p.m. will be handled by the close of business.

Prescriptions and Refills

New prescriptions are written during office visits. Any prescription refills or messages regarding prescriptions should include the following: your name, date of birth, the name of your pharmacy along with the pharmacy phone number, the drug name and the dosage amount. Also include your phone number where you can be reached if we have any questions. As a general rule, we are unable to refill pain medications after hours or on weekends.

Please be aware that we are electronically filling prescriptions now and it is very important that we have your correct pharmacy in our e-prescribing system. If you change your pharmacy please notify our office of the change.

Health Insurance and Claims

We accept a variety of insurance plans. Insurance information is recorded at the time of your visit. Please notify us of any future changes in your coverage or billing information. Co-pays and deductibles are due at the time services are rendered. Please be aware of your insurance plan’s co-pay policy and amount.

If you are uninsured, our office offers a specialty payment plan to help reduce the cost of medical care.

Confidentiality and Release of Information

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1997 (HIPPA) establishes the rules regarding medical records confidentiality. We require all patients to sign a copy of their rights under the Act during their initial visit. If you would like a copy of your signed document, please ask our receptionist for one at your visit. If you have questions or concerns regarding the confidentiality of your medical records, please ask to speak with our Privacy Officer.

HIPAA requires that we obtain your signature before releasing copies of your medical records. This includes requests to family, friends, other physicians, and attorneys. To sign a request for the release of information, please see our receptionist at your next visit.

Living Wills, Durable Power of Attorney, and Other Legal Documents

Please provide us with the most up-to-date copies of any living will, durable power of attorney, or any other legal document, such as a conservatorship, relevant to your medical care. We may discuss this at your visit as a routine plan of care.
