Carol D. Hawkins, MSN, FNP

“Helping patients achieve a higher quality of life or wellness is very rewarding. We do this through a multi discipline team approach, always working closely with our physicians and other support staff.  The patient remains our primary focus while we also strive to educate others and grow professionally.”

Ms. Hawkins is a graduate of George Mason University, earning a Bachelor of Science In Nursing degree with distinction. She continued her education at East Tennessee State University and received the master of nursing, graduating with the highest academic average in her class. She serves on the faculty of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and has been a professor in UT Knoxville’s School of Nursing.

Working with the UT Heart Lung Vascular Institute and Drs. Branca and Dudney, Ms. Hawkins helped develop a smoking cessation program. Although treatment of general pulmonary disease remains her main focus, another area of professional interest includes pulmonary hypertension. She has worked with Dr. Schriver in the development of a pulmonary hypertension clinic.

She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the East Tennessee Association of Advanced Practice Nurses.
